Amber Midthunder does an outstanding job as the great protagonist Naru. She's got an animal sidekick, too, which ups the tension. Her never-ending fight for survival is entertaining, but the actual fighting is what really draws you in. Easily the year's bloodiest picture, including a strong performance by the Predator. Astounding kills are to be expected, yet the sheer number of them takes you by surprise. Some of these low budget aspects are irritating, such as the blatant cgi blood, while others are what make the movie enjoyable. Without a doubt, I would have liked to have seen this in its native language, but it doesn't (check here) upset me too much otherwise. Occasionally, problems with plausibility crop up as well. There will be odd occurrences that make you scratch your head, but they won't happen very often. There are slow spots, but whenever the tale seems to be having trouble, the movie seems to speed up again. We need to get Trachtenberg back in the fold and into theaters. Some of the murders in this film would have worked better on the big screen, where they could have been appreciated by a larger audience. It's also a movie I've been wanting to see again, which bodes well for my expectations going in. It seems like Prey is one of those games that will only become better with time.
